Found this great site called mobile UI patterns, for looking at some of the latest trends in mobile UI. The examples seem to be very iOS oriented, it would have been cool to see which platform the screenshot was taken from and it it was a native or web app.
I found this video on Reddit, it’s incredibly accruate. Strangely i feel somewhat comforted that i’m not the only person that deals with this in the software engineering industry on a day to basis.
I’ve been building out a simple promotions engine for PPC. Basically the use case is that a PPC campaign manager can create a mobile promotion page from a number of predefined templates using a set of name value pairs. The interesting thing on the project was making sure that the promotions pages rendered correctly on the device. I used the PHP WURLF library to accomplish this and thought i’d blog about it as it took longer to install than i’d have hoped, so someone might find this useful.
I’ve met a lot of project managers, product managers and just general managers in my time in lets call it the “web” industry. My background is as a developer and i still program now in my spare time, saying that my day to day job now is the management of an engineering team, customer facing management, pre-sales to a certain degree and technical consultant. What i’ve found in my time is that within the “web” industry there is just a glut of people who through no fault of their own just don’t know what they are talking about and i have a theory.
